Tony Kalm is a global leader in impact-driven agriculture and sustainable development and the former President of One Acre Fund, one of the world’s most influential agricultural social enterprises serving millions of smallholder farmers across Africa. In that role, he led the organization’s strategic direction and oversaw large-scale operations, helping build and institutionalize a model that effectively combines farmer engagement, productivity, and financial sustainability across multiple countries. A visionary social entrepreneur, Tony has built and led global initiatives from The Eden Project and The Doomsday Seed Vault and The United Nations Foundation.
Tony’s leadership and vision in social entrepreneurship have received international recognition. He was named Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the World Economic Forum, reflecting the global impact and credibility of his work in advancing scalable solutions for food security and rural livelihoods.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Kalm held leadership roles at the World Bank, where he worked on international development and policy initiatives at a global level, complementing his later hands-on leadership in building and operating large-scale agricultural platforms. He began his professional path as a Peace Corps volunteer, gaining first-hand experience working directly with farming communities in low-income, rural settings.
Tony Kalm was educated at Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, and INSEAD, reflecting rigorous academic training across agriculture, public health, economics, and global leadership.
He is widely respected by investors, public institutions, and partners for his ability to bridge strategy and execution, align complex stakeholder ecosystems, and lead initiatives from concept through long-term operation. His background uniquely positions him to deliver integrated agrivoltaic and sustainable agriculture projects that require excellence across agriculture, energy, finance, and community engagement.
On a personal side, Tony is an avid clarinetist and marathon runner, having completed numerous marathons across the United States and internationally.
